Swing Low, Sweet Loquat Branches

My husband picked a bunch of loquats a while back from the tree in our yard.

For some reason, they were quite prolific this year - as never before.

They kept very well in the refrigerator and they were sweet and delicious, obnoxious pits notwithstanding.

Jump down, turn around, pick a pail of loquats.....

I've never had a loquat. Is it like kumquat? Love how they look in that cute pail. Glad you enjoyed them.

Hi craftyles! Yes, they are like a kumquat, only smaller in size.

Lucky! I grew up plucking those tastees off our backyard tree. But they don't grow where I now live in Missouri. :(

I grew up in the orchards and just love to look at fruit trees, year round. That's why we're in Camino. Beautiful tree, Heidi. I don't have much experience with loquats either--nor kumquats, for that matter.

Speaking of growing up in the orchards, we used to walk through clouds of DDT on our way to school. We thought it was great fun. Then we picked and ate loads of the sprayed fruit on our way home. By popular notions, I shouldn't be here to be writing this. Though, ironically, the high end of my generation is breaking all records for longevity.
